Our expert tailoring service allows you to get a custom fit on your favorite jeans. We'll taper any brand including all denim, canvas, and chino styles (excluding dress pants and slacks). The alterations will be done from the inseam, leaving the selvedge untouched. This service includes a complimentary chain stitch hem to your desired length. With over 15 years of experience and a collection of vintage machines, we can taper jeans up to 25 ounces. Heavier weight fabrics or double panel jeans may incur additional charges due to the extra labor and risk to our equipment.

The inseam stitch sets our service apart from the competition. Instead of the broken or "tacked" inseam stitches used by others, we employ a single, continuous stitch. This results in a clean, flawless inseam.
Already Have A Pair That Fits Just Right?
If you already own a well-fitting pair of jeans, you can choose our "Reference Option" and send us that pair along with your order. Be sure to clearly indicate which pair is the reference so we can match the fit accurately. They will both get sent back at service completion.
Fast Mail-in Service:
Railcar Denim Services offers tax-free tapering, with a 2-3 week turnaround from the date the item is checked in.
Optional Rush Service:
Need even faster service? Use the optional "Rush". This will bump you to the front of the normally over 40 pants in the queue for faster service.
Understand:
The jeans will be tapered evenly from front to back. If the jeans already have some twisting, the tapering process will maintain the same degree of twist. Our tolerance threshold is 0.25 inch in either direction, so please factor in this allowance when ordering.

Return Shipping Free Insurance:
Your pants come with $200 of return shipping insurance per pair. If you need additional coverage, please email us at info@railcarfinegoods.com and we can assist you. Please note that you may be required to provide the receipt or other documentation of your original purchase in order to file a claim with the shipping carrier.
Return shipping will be charged at checkout.
Instructions And Process:
- To help us speed up processing your pants when they arrive, include your order number and write "Taper" on the outside of the package when sending it in.
- Use your carrier of your choice and send your pants to address to: Railcar 10636 Main St, El Monte, CA 91731, United States
- Loss of package is very rare, most services comes with tracking free, but we recommend to make sure your service has a tracking number associated with it. Incoming insurance is your choice.
- When your package arrives at Railcar, please allow 1-2 working days to process it in. An automatic email will be sent out when it is physically processed. It will go into service immediately.
- When your pants are complete, they'll be shipped back to you and you'll be emailed a tracking number.
