Professional chain stitch hemming for your denim jeans, done right here at our California factory. Send us your physical pair of jeans and we'll shorten and chain stitch the existing garment to your selected length, then return the same pair of jeans back to you.
We can hem just about any brand of denim jeans, with a typical turnaround time of 3–5 business days. Our in-house team has over 15 years of experience hemming denim, and customers from around the world trust us with their jeans.
Simply select your desired inseam length from the dropdown menu. We use the traditional 3/8-inch chain stitch hem, which creates the classic look and beautiful aging that denim enthusiasts look for. If you prefer a different hem width, just leave us a note during checkout.
We also stock a wide range of thread colors and gauges so we can closely match the original construction of most denim brands.
For heavyweight denim from 21 to 25 ounces, an additional charge applies due to the extra labor required and the added wear on our vintage sewing machinery.

Place your order, then send us your jeans using the shipping carrier of your choice. The cost of return shipping will be added at checkout. Once your jeans arrive at our factory, we'll match them to your order, complete the alteration, and ship the same pair of jeans back to you.
Instructions and Process:
- To make sure you receive tracking numbers, shipping details, and any follow-up questions, add info@railcarfinegoods.com to your email contacts. This can help prevent our emails from being filtered into Spam or Promotions.
- To help us process your jeans quickly when they arrive, include your order number and write "Hem" on the outside of the package.
- Use the shipping carrier of your choice and send your jeans to: Railcar, 10636 Main St, El Monte, CA 91731, United States.
- Package loss is very rare, and most shipping methods include tracking. We recommend choosing a shipping method that provides a tracking number.
- When your jeans arrive at Railcar, please allow 1–2 business days for us to process them. An automatic email will be sent once your physical garment has been received and processed.
- Once your jeans are complete, the same garment will be shipped back to you and you'll receive an email with the return tracking number.
