Professional Chain Stitch Hemming for Denim Jeans
Professional chain stitch hemming for denim jeans, performed in-house at the Railcar Fine Goods factory in El Monte, California. Send us your existing pair of jeans and we'll shorten the inseam to your selected length, finish the jeans with a traditional chain stitch hem, and ship the same pair back to you.

We provide chain stitch hemming for most brands of men's and women's denim jeans, including raw denim, selvedge denim, and heavyweight denim. Our in-house team has over 15 years of experience working with denim garments, with a typical hemming turnaround time of 3–5 business days.

Traditional 3/8-Inch Chain Stitch Hem:
Simply select your desired finished inseam length from the dropdown menu when ordering.

Our standard hem is a traditional 3/8-inch chain stitch hem, creating the classic appearance and natural roping and fading that denim enthusiasts look for as their jeans age. If you prefer a different hem width, leave us a note during checkout.

We stock a wide range of thread colors and thread gauges, allowing us to closely match the original construction and appearance of most denim brands.

Heavyweight Denim Hemming:
We can hem heavyweight denim from 21 to 25 ounces. An additional charge applies to these heavier fabrics because of the extra labor required and additional wear on our vintage industrial sewing machinery. Use the selection button to select your jeans weight.

Experienced In-House Denim Hemming:
Every chain stitch hem is completed by our experienced team at our California factory using professional industrial sewing machines suited for denim construction.

We also regularly re-hem and correct jeans that have been previously hemmed incorrectly. Whether you're sending us a new pair of raw denim or a well-worn pair of jeans, our goal is to provide a clean, durable hem that complements the original construction of the garment.

How Our Mail-In Hemming Service Works:
Place your hemming order online and select your desired inseam length. Then send your jeans to our California factory using the shipping carrier of your choice.

Once your jeans arrive, we'll match the garment to your order, complete the chain stitch hem, and ship the same pair of jeans back to you. Return shipping is calculated and added during checkout.

Drawstring Bottom Openings:
We do not alter pants with drawstrings at the bottom openings while retaining the drawstring.

If your jeans currently have a drawstring bottom opening and you would like the drawstring removed, we can remove it and finish the jeans with a clean, traditional hemmed bottom opening.
