The Railcar Upsizing Service can be performed if you're looking for a couple more inches in the waist. This service will add gussets on the sides of your hips to add wanted size back in the waist. The service will also add fabric to the waistband for that additional sizing. This service is great to add on if you've outgrown your favorite pair of jeans or to make vintage pants fit your body.
The upsizing gussets will start about 6 inches below the waistband and gradually open up to desired upsize. New fabric will also be added to the waistband to accommodate the upsizing. We have a huge selection of fabric to choose from to do this service and will choose the best fabric to use based on weight and anticipated aging color. Understand that there will be a contrast of color. If you have scrap of the denim from a previous chain stitch hem service, we can try to use that.
How It's Performed:
- First the jeans gets inspected to make sure the reconstruction could be done.
- All of the belt loops gets removed for relocation.
- The patch gets removed for relocation.
- The button and rivets gets removed.
- Side seams gets unstitched for custom gusset installation on both sides.
- Waistband gets removed and extended to desired upsizing.
- Belt loops, patch, and hardware gets installed.
- Final inspection and shipped back.
Example in the picture is a women's Levis with a 3 inch upsize.
Service Time:
So we can properly Railcar upsize your jeans we will need 3-4 weeks from the date the item has arrived at the shop.
Optional Rush Service:
Need even faster service? Use the optional "Rush". This will bump you to the front of the normally over 40 pants in the queue for faster service.
Please Understand:
The original top fly button and possibly the rivets will be replaced with Railcar button and rivets, as the originals cannot be reused. Additionally, if your jeans have any waistband fades or wears, they will be shifted slightly for the additional waistband length. See pictures for example. All work is final. Your pants come with $200 of return shipping insurance per pair. If you need additional coverage, please email us at info@railcarfinegoods.com and we can assist you. Please note that you may be required to provide the receipt or other documentation of your original purchase in order to file a claim with the shipping carrier.

Instructions And Process:
- To help us speed up processing your pants when they arrive, include your order number and write "Upsizing" on the outside of the package when sending it in.

- Loss of package is very rare, most services comes with tracking free, but we recommend to make sure your service has a tracking number associated with it. Incoming insurance is your choice.
- When your package arrives at Railcar, please allow 1-2 working days to process it in. An automatic email will be sent out when it is physically processed. It will go into service immediately.
- When your pants are complete, they'll be shipped back to you and you'll be emailed a tracking number.
